Simply put, a Birth Doula is a support person for the birthing mother and her birth partner. Doula is a loosely translated Greek word for ‘woman servant’ and it is used now to describe a person designated to supporting women in pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. I act in a birth capacity specifically to support the birth you envisioned and to allow you, to the best of my ability, the space to have an empowering, joyful, safe labor and delivery.

Spinning Babies® believes that fetal positions are not random; babies naturally fit the space available to them. But here’s the exciting part: it’s not just about the size of the baby or the pelvis. Birth anatomy can be flexible, and we’re here to show you how.
Whether this is your first or your seventh baby, the postpartum time can be difficult, overwhelming, and exhausting - this is where bringing in a Postpartum Doula can be a game changer. I assist with breastfeeding, postpartum nutrition, education on basic newborn behavior/tendencies, cooking, cleaning, or simply providing an ear for whatever is on your heart.
Breastfeeding is a wonderful and convenient way to nourish our babies. For some mothers and babies this process comes naturally with little to no complications, for some it takes time to learn what baby needs to nurse successfully, and for others it can be challenging to have the nursing journey they were hoping for. None of these mothers have a magical touch or bad luck, it is all normal, and it can be different with every baby! Every baby and every situation is beautiful and unique. As a Breastfeeding Counselor I work with you and baby from birth or anytime there after with latch, positioning, trouble shooting, and helping you determine if you may need to add some more specialized lactation professionals to your team.

Pregnancy is such an exciting and emotional time for every woman and I’m sure it has been no different for you! There is so much societal pressure or fear around birth and all that it entails, it can be easy to internalize those pressures and allow them to negatively influence your birth experience. Through my 1 on 1 or group childbirth classes I will help you (and your partner if applicable) gain confidence in your knowledge of the choices that you have made for yourself and future child, the potential medical interventions that could be used, the natural unfolding of birth, comfort measures for your desired labor experience, and hopefully leave you feeling excited about the amazing journey you are going to embark on!
